🎄 Roanoke County buys Explore Parks for $2

Yep, you read that right. The county officially bought the 1,100-acre Explore Park for just $2. They’ve been leasing it since 2013 and have already poured in $8 million for zip lines, bike trails, disc golf, and a brewpub. Festivals like Illuminights will keep on shining.

🌧️Record Rain in Roanoke

This past Thursday, August 21, Roanoke was drenched with 4.27 inches of rain—crushing the old August 21 record of 1.73 inches set in 1960. That’s more than a month’s worth of rain in just 24 hours, enough to fill about 4,000 Olympic-size swimming pools across the valley!
