Good morning, Roanoke! It’s August 18th, and hopefully you snagged some free 7 Brew Coffee this past weekend. If not, don’t worry—they’ll be brewing full-time starting September 1.

☕ Free 7 Brew Coffee

Over the weekend, 7 Brew Coffee rolled its bright pink stand onto West Main and started handing out free drinks to anyone who cruised through. They even delivered trays of coffee to nearby businesses.

Mark your calendar for Sept. 1—that’s when the full menu officially launches.

🏈 Roanoke College football back after 83 years

For the first time since 1942, Roanoke College fans have a varsity football team to cheer on. The Maroons held their first official practice last week, kicking off a new era in NCAA Division III competition.

Adopt Pets

This week’s star has a snack-inspired name and a heart as big as the valley. Meet Cool Ranch Dorito—a senior domestic shorthair with a tabby-and-white coat and pure gentlemanly vibes. He was posted just two days ago and still loves a good head scratch.

House of the Week

331 Blue Heron Dr, Wirtz, VA 24184: Lake-living meets secret-agent fantasy in this one-of-a-kind Mediterranean estate on Smith Mountain Lake.

Inside, you’ll find a black-and-white marble foyer with a compass inlay, four spiraling staircases, custom black walnut woodwork, and a chef’s kitchen. The master suite? Complete with a remote-controlled shower and jacuzzi.

There’s also a hidden safe room, a home theater under a starry ceiling, and a floating dock fit for your very own boat parade. Basically, it’s a private resort in disguise.

Local Businesses

Walk down 20 Campbell Ave SE and you’ll spot the buffalo logo marking the future home of Bison Head Cigar & Lounge—soon to be downtown’s only public cigar lounge.

Owner-run and fully independent, it’ll stock premium cigars and all the essentials—cutters, lighters, humidors—plus host events to welcome both aficionados and first-timers. Hours will run 10 am–10 pm Monday–Saturday and noon–8 pm Sundays.

Roanoke’s cigar fans have been waiting for this one. Keep an eye on their website for the grand-opening date.
