Good morning, Roanoke! It’s September 22nd—the first day of fall. Lucky for us, this is one of the best places in the country to soak up the colors of the season. Roanoke even snagged some national recognition here. But if you’re craving a little weekend adventure away from Roanoke, we’ve rounded up some quick getaways just a short drive away.

🍂 Fall Weekend Trips

Roanoke is great, but sometimes it is great to disconnect and check out somewhere new. Fall is a great time to do that. Here are three Fall weekend trips, all within two hours of Roanoke:

Lexington, VA
Let’s start with a quick drive up I-81 to Lexington for crisp fall colors and a hike at Goshen Pass Natural Area Preserve. As for where to stay? We recommend The Georges—right in the heart of downtown and walking distance to great restaurants.
Floyd, VA
We mention Floyd every week for live music—and fall is the perfect time to make a night of it. Stay at Hotel Floyd, then wander over to the Floyd Country Store for a show. By day, cruise the Blue Ridge Parkway for stunning views.
Hot Springs, VA
Book a room at the Omni Homestead Resort and take in the mountain backdrop. While you are there, you want to take a soak in the historical Warm Spring Pools. This might be our selection.

🚶‍♀️ ALS Walk Raises $50,000

More than 150 people came out to Green Hill Park this past Saturday for the ALS Walk, raising $50,000 for research and support. We love it when we see local events make a big impact!

Dilly Dally Reopening

Let’s start with the good. The Dilly Dally is steps away from reopening! New owner Maggie Grill plans to transform it into more than a convenience store—think deli, hangout spot, and neighborhood hub. The soft reopening is today.

Our Daily Bread Locations Closing

And now the bad: Our Daily Bread is closing its Vinton and Downtown locations, after already shutting down Salem last month. The Brambleton store will remain open.
